About NearbyIndex
NearbyIndex is a neighborhood infrastructure scoring system and map. It helps people compare access to daily services around an address. The product is maintained by the NearbyIndex Team.
Our purpose
An address does not show which daily services are nearby. We make that information visible and comparable on one map for homes, travel, neighborhood research, and infrastructure-access analysis.
One product, several uses
Walkability research is one use of NearbyIndex. The current score measures nearby destinations. It can also reveal category gaps and help compare the daily infrastructure around two locations. It does not rate street safety, route quality, or the complete quality of a neighborhood.
Our data
Points of interest and area labels come from the Overture Maps Foundation. City names and population data come from GeoNames.
The map can contain missing, old, or misclassified places. Coverage also differs by country and city.
Our review policy
A city does not enter the search index because it is large. It enters only after its data and page content pass a manual review.
Reviewed pages include a local official source and a clear model limit. We expand this set in small batches and monitor search quality.
Corrections
If a result looks wrong, record the address, category, and missing place. Send those details through the project issue tracker. We review scoring errors and source-data errors separately.
